Setting Up: Let's Roll

Starts with covering furniture - sofa, tables, cabinets, switch boards, other elements like television sets, fans, refrigerators and the floors! All wall hangings to be removed and anything that doesnt require even a drop of paint over it,to be masked. Furniture to be pulled away from the walls, making it easier to reach out to all corners.

Surface Preparation : The Foundation

Well prepared surafce is the foundation to long lasting painting results. Loose plaster or paint flakes to be removed. Sanding is done to remove existing coat of paint and to ensure surface is dry,free from dust and dirt. Major cracks or seepage, require immediate attention and should be repaired before painting.

Putty Touch Up: For Smooth Walls

Putty is a white-cement based compound,applied on dry walls and ceiling, to fill in pores and smoothen the surface. Minor Holes and cracks on the surface will be filled and undulations evened out by touch ups,provided wall condition is overall good. One or two coats of putty application throughtout the surface will be required, even in case of re-painting; a. When using paints with higher sheen to obtain smooth finish b. Incase of irregular or repaired surfaces

Priming : The Guardian Coat

rimers help paint adhere to the surface,and thus improves paint coverage and creates uniform appearance in terms of colour and sheen. Priming can never be skipped, when using paints with higher sheen(gloss). It is always advisable to use primer, as it increases durability(life) of paint. After priming,the surface has to dry naturally for a day, before painting over.

Painting : Finishing Touches

Paints produce that final finish and colour of the surface. Before deciding on the product, end requirements in term sof functionality and appearance, must be considered. Minimum of 2 coats will be applied to achieve durable, consistent layer. Paints that produce a highly smooth finish, may require an additional coat also. Ceiling to be painted first, and then the walls. Surface needs to dry naturally after every coat.Water based paints like Emulsions that are used on walls and ceiling surfaces, dry fast (in 3 - 4 hours).

Fresh-Painting

If you are planning to upgrade existing paint finish or change of colours
1 coat of Primer, 2 coats of Putty, 1 coat of Primer and 3 coats of Paint

Step 1: Priming - Preparatory Coating

Surfaces that are yet to receive any paint,need to be priemd first. Primer creates the foundation for receiving further coats of putty and paint, ensuring improved paint adhesion and durability of paint layer.

Step 2: Putty - 2 Coats

Putty is a white-cement based compound,applied on dry walls and ceiling. Putty smoothens the surface and makes in ready to receive paint. Liberal coats of Putty, to be applied on to the primed surface. At least 2 to 3 coats of Putty would prove beneficial.

Step 3: Priming - The Guardian Coat
